Darkcoin’s InstantX Feature Now Available on Testnet

Quite a lot of activity to be found on the Darkcoin testnet over the past 24 hours, as a new testnet client has been released. Version 0.11.1.x’s main new feature will be the testing of Darkcoin’s InstantX feature, which makes received transactions spendable in less than a minute. Let’s take a look at how the testing is going so far, shall we?

The release of Darkcoin Core version 0.11.1.x marks the addition of InstantX to the list of features and tools, allowing users to spend their received transactions within roughly 40 seconds from showing up in their wallet. InstantX sends out transactions that immediately receive the number of confirmations needed (5) in order to become spendable.  Read more...

Darkcoin Announces Upcoming Client Changes, Ambassador Program Launched

The Darkcoin developers have recently announced their plans for the next client update, now that the network has updated to version 11 and seems to be relatively stable for the time being. According to a recent post on DarkcoinTalk, several projects will be worked on at the same time, which is made possible thanks to the ever growing group of developers. Furthermore, the Darkcoin Ambassador Group has launched, so we will take a look at that as well.

Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 Released

The DRK developers released Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 yesterday afternoon, which brings a lot of changes to DarkSend, as well as some security fixes and other things. Many people have been eagerly waiting for this release, which has been 2 months in the making and combines the work of no less than 10 different developers.

Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 is forked from Bitcoin 0.9.3 in order to take advantage of nearly 2 years of development committed to the Bitcoin core client. This is a long awaited change, as all previous client versions have been based on Litecoin. However,a s there are no developmental changes going on there, nor will there be any in the near future, it seems like a good decision to switch to Bitcoin core.  Read more...

A very interesting cryptocurrency-related book has been made available for purchase on Amazon recently, titled “Cryptocurrency : ‘The Alt-ernative’ A Beginner’s Reference” As you might be able to determine from the book’s title, this book covers both Bitcoin and quite a few altcoins in a historical setting.

The reason for the creation of this book is bringing people up to speed about cryptocurrency, while not focusing on Bitcoin all the time either. By putting  no less than 38 different digital currencies in a historical reference frame, readers will have a far easier time to understand terms such as blockchain, proof-of-stake, mining, and others.  Read more...

Complete Darkcoin V0.11.x Changelog Notes Released

We have mentioned bits and pieces coming up in the new Darkcoin client, which will be version 0.11.x. While the release date has not been confirmed as of yet, the full list of release notes on GitHub has become a lot lengthier than it has ever been. In this article, we will highlight some of these changes which we haven’t talked about before.

Most Darkcoin enthusiasts and community members will know how the new v0.11.x client is forked off the Bitcoin Core 0.9.3. This is a major change, as the v0.10.x DRK clients are all forked from the Litecoin 0.8 tree. An interesting choice, but definitely the right one in my opinion.
