Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 Released

The DRK developers released Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 yesterday afternoon, which brings a lot of changes to DarkSend, as well as some security fixes and other things. Many people have been eagerly waiting for this release, which has been 2 months in the making and combines the work of no less than 10 different developers.

Darkcoin Core V0.11.0 is forked from Bitcoin 0.9.3 in order to take advantage of nearly 2 years of development committed to the Bitcoin core client. This is a long awaited change, as all previous client versions have been based on Litecoin. However,a s there are no developmental changes going on there, nor will there be any in the near future, it seems like a good decision to switch to Bitcoin core.  Read more...

Darkcoin Developers Introduce DarkSend High Precision Matching Engine

Darkcoin Development Roadmap For Early 2015

Even though we have referenced some of the following items in previous article, now is an opportune time to reiterate some of them. The Darkcoin developers have released their development roadmap for DRK for 2015, and some interesting things are coming soon. Let’s dig in and see what we can expect!

The new additions to the development team, which you can read about in this article, will be putting their efforts towards improving DarkSend. The design of DarkSend will be restructured and flushed out, and we expect more information to become available in the next few weeks. By the looks of things, it seems like the Darkcoin development team has added yet another member. A freelance developer under the name of Vertoe has joined the ranks, so we will look into that a bit more. There is also a lot of information about the next client update, and a lot more!

Vertoe (aka vertoe) is an academic grade software engineer fallen in love with C/C++ programming. By working as a freelance programmer for a well known NGO , in the area of net activism, Vertoe’s attention was drawn to cryptocurrency, and Darkcoin in particular.  Read more...

Darkcoin Client Update Available Now As Onyx V3 Is Released

The Darkcoin team is hard at work behind the scenes most of the time, and they get a lot of help and feedback from various community members. A new version of Onyx has been released, which is version 3. In Onyx V3, a lot of improvement are included, so let’s take a closer look at what has changed exactly.

Darkcoin developer Evan Duffield is one of the most ingenious developers the world of cryptocurrency and altcoins has ever seen. After delivering some very solid anonymity tech over the past few months, and now, a new featurd called “change contracts using atomic transfers” is in the pipelines. Let’s see what this is all about then, shall we?

This new development comes on the heels of developing an anonymous currency, and then noticing you somehow have to account for dealing with change. Darkcoin Mandatory Client Update Released

As we have been reporting over the past few days, changes are on the horizon for the Darkcoin community as the DRK developer has been hard at work to fix the Darksend flaw. After running several versions of the new client on the testnet over the past few days, the new Darkcoin client is now available for download.

Darkcoin V10.16.5 (Onyx v2) is the latest version, which is a mandatory upgrade for anyone involved with Darkcoin. A special focus is put on exchanges, mining pool operators, masternodes and Darksend users. Furthermore, regular client users are also advised to upgrade to the latest version.  Read more...

New Darkcoin Client Ready For Testing, Fixes Darksend Flaw

As we reported in our final article yesterday, a flaw had been discovered in Darkcoin’s anonymity feature Darksend. A new version , which includes the patch for this flaw, is currently available for testing and it brings quite some changes with it, so let’s take a look!

For starters, Darkcoin masternodes can now make a limited amount of zero-fee transactions for Darksend. These are special transactions which all require a signature only the masternodes can create. No word yet on how many transactions each masternode can make exactly.  Read more...

Flaw Discovered In Darkcoin’s Darksend , Security Patch Will Be Released Soon

Over the past few weeks, we have been able to post regular Darkcoin updates in regards to the progress being made by the developers and community. While we all love positive news, sometimes we have to bring bad news. In this case, a flaw in Darksend has been found and needs to be fixed.

The developers have asked all Darkcoin community members to stop using the Darksend feature until further notice. A flaw in Darksend was discovered two days ago, and the DRK developer is currently working on a security patch.  Read more...

Darkcoin Solves Bitcoin Privacy Challenges; Releases Open Source Code

Darkcoin is designed to ensure financial privacy by making it virtually impossible to trace a transaction back to its source. This is accomplished with a key piece of technology called Darksend, which works by mixing up the digital fingerprints of the user’s coins. Darksend’s technology is based on the Masternode Network, currently 900+ decentralized servers spread around the world and maintained by Darkcoin supporters.

Darkcoin Passes Security Review, Prepares to Open Source

Security researcher Kristov Atlas has concluded his code review and security audit of Darkcoin. He was solicited by the developers of Darkcoin, based on 4+ years of professionally reviewing C/C++ software, to review the code and suggest any changes which could improve the software. Kristov Atlas concluded that Darkcoin’s claims of functional anonymity are well-founded. He did suggest a few concerns, which the Darkcoin team immediately fixed (the fixes will be released Monday as part of the next scheduled update to the Darkcoin client). Mr. Atlas’ primary concern was that a bad actor could launch a so-called Sybil attack against the network. Evan Duffield, lead developer of Darkcoin, closed this potential attack vector and in doing so also found a way to increase the overall anonymity of Darkcoin transactions.  Read more...

LitecoinDark Begins Where Litecoin Ends And Adds Anonymous Features

Even though I wasn’t too convinced about LitecoinDark when it first launched, I do feel it is time we take a closer look at this altcoin. They have released a new development roadmap, achieved a 5+ Proof of Developer rating, and much more. Here we go!

The main reason why I didn’t think highly of LitecoinDark in the beginning, was simply because of it’s name, and the fact it was released shortly after BitcoinDark. It just sounded a bit too convenient and sketchy to me, so I gave the coin some time to develop further and see where it went.  Read more...

DarkCoin’s RC5 Launching Next Monday, DarkSend To Go Open Source September 29th

It’s time we took a look back at DarkCoin and see what they have been up to over the past few weeks. The developers made a very interesting announcement a few days ago, as they will be releasing RC5 next Monday!

EthanCoin – In Progress We Trust

After receiving a lot of requests over the past week or so for an article about EthanCoin, I think now would be a good time to do something with it. As this altcoin has been around for a while, we can take a look at the progress they have made so far. Here we go!

EthanCoin saw the light of day on July 13th, making it nearly 2 months old at this point in time. With an initial round of funding through an ICO, during which 20 million Ethan were sold, and a pre-mine of 1 million coins, there was enough funds to start on a development road trip.  Read more...

To continue today’s flow, I wanted to bring you some small bits of news regarding CinniCoin. As we reported yesterday, a few things were planned, and the price rocketed all day. Today, the rocket’s arch has continued upwards, but more news got leaked too!
