Ex-Ethereum Foundation Developer Joins Polygon

Hudson Jameson, a core developer liaison who previously worked with the Ethereum Foundation, the non-profit organization behind the world’s largest smart contracting platform, has joined Polygon.

In a tweet on March 16, Jameson, also a committee member of the Zcash Open Major Grants (ZOMG), said he recently started with Polygon, an Ethereum sidechain, and layer-2, after taking a year-long break since February 2022.

Binance Joins a Sanction Specialist Association to Further Established Guidelines In Crypto

Despite the bear market, Binance is one of the firms that has continued to build and make meaningful partnerships with firms and organizations. In its latest headline on partnerships, Binance joined the Association of Certified Sanctions Specialists (ACSS), which provides sanctions training for multinational corporations and financial institutions. 

Founded in 2018, the ACSS provides its members with necessary educational resources and benefits. The company is the first crypto exchange to formally join the association as part of its ongoing efforts to “strengthen its compliance capabilities,” according to a press release published earlier today.  Read more...

Bitcoin Joins The Guinness Book Of World Records

Bitcoin now has multiple entries in the Guinness Book of World Records, including most valuable and the first decentralized cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin has officially entered the Guinness World Records for a number of entries, the first of which is being recognized as the “first decentralized cryptocurrency.”

“Bitcoin was developed as a solution to the challenge of regulating a digital currency without any centralized organization,” reads the entry.

Indeed, Bitcoin does offer decentralized consensus through proof-of-work, as Guinness mentions, though the record keeper does seem to still be learning how Bitcoin works.  Read more...

Former Korean Finance Minister Joins Hashed Open Research to Promote Blockchain

A senior South Korean government official has joined the research offshoot of blockchain VC Hashed. Kim Yong-beom is a well-known figure in his homeland, where he held the role of Vice Minister of the Korea Ministry of Economy and Finance up until last year. Since stepping down from the role, which had included liaising with domestic crypto companies, Yong-beom has elected to enter crypto in an advisory capacity. Now, he’s flying the flag for the industry he once helped regulate.

Samsung Securities Joins Giant Brokerages In Bitcoin, Crypto Exchange Push: Report

Samsung Securities, Mirae Asset Securities and five other giant brokers have filed to launch cryptocurrency exchanges in South Korea in 2023.

  • Seven large domestic securities companies in South Korea are seeking approval to operate cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Two companies are listed by name in the report: Mirae Asset Securities and Samsung Securities.
  • The institutional digital asset ecosystem in South Korea is seeing an increase in demand following the local presidential election of Yoon Suk-Yeol.

Layer One Blockchain Startup 5ire Raised $100 Million, Joins Unicorn Club

Level One blockchain network, 5ire, has joined the unicorn club after raising $ 100 million at a valuation of $ 1.5 billion in Series A round. It received the funding from UK-based conglomerate SRAM & MRAM Group which made 5ire India’s 105th unicorn.

5ire which is a blockchain company that was founded in August last year, is still pre-revenue and is expecting to start getting revenue from the month of November and it just hit a billion dollar revenue mark in the last three years.
