Bitcoin ‘Back With A Vengeance’ – Crypto Liquidity Crisis Is Over, Citi Report Suggests

Bitcoin could be seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, at least that’s what a major American multinational investment bank is saying on its latest findings.

Multiple evidence indicate that the liquidity crisis in the broader cryptocurrency markets may have seen the worst. This is the conclusion suggested by Citi Bank, in its latest study.

Since its November peak last year, Bitcoin’s value has decreased by more than half, causing the whole cryptocurrency market to plummet.

Both Terra (LUNA) and TerraUSD (UST) have witnessed precipitous drops, including Bitcoin, that have alarmed a great number of investors.  Read more...

'Zimdollar' Reboot: Bitcoin Fills Liquidity Gaps as New Zimbabwe Currency Flounders

P2P bitcoin trade is surging in Zimbabwe via mobile exchange platforms like Ecocash, despite recent government efforts to curb the use of competing currencies locally. As of June 24, the reinstated Zimbabwe dollar (formerly RTGS dollar) is now the only recognized currency in the economically embattled southern African country. Finance minister Mthuli Ncube sees the move as a way to pull in the reins on re-dollarization, and implement greater controls and stability. Others see the new currency as a disastrous decision paving the way for continued hyperinflation.

Hyperloop: A New Concept by Lightning Aiming to Solve Liquidity Problems

About two months ago, Lightning Labs released Lightning Loop, a service that allows users to fill or empty Lightning channels without closing them, thus reducing on-chain fees. The service, developed by Lightning Labs developers Alex Bosworth and Bryan Vu, was created to help users manage their liquidity.

The Loop service, says Bosworth, is helpful for managing liquidity because “it sidesteps the liquidity problem for Lightning, which is that you can’t do flow rebalancing. If you run out of channel capacity in one direction, there’s no possibility that you can get more in a totally self contained, only-Lightning world. On February 21, 2019, peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplace Paxful announced a partnership with trading platform BitMart for the purpose of vastly increasing the latter’s liquidity and scalability.

In a company statement, Paxful claimed that this project was initiated “in the hopes of increasing liquidity and scalability” across the entire crypto asset industry.

Two for One? Bancor Bent on Cross-Chain Liquidity With EOS Expansion

In a bid to extend the reach of its services, Bancor is opening up shop on another blockchain.

The decentralized exchange protocol is expanding to EOS, a Bancor blog post reveals. Speaking to Bitcoin Magazine, Bancor’s Director of Communications Nate Hindman said the protocol will still allow users to trade Ethereum tokens, while its newest iteration, BancorX, will introduce this functionality to Ethereum’s rival, as well.

“Bancor is not ‘switching’ to EOS. Bancor will continue to support and advance its protocol and liquidity network on the Ethereum blockchain. With the BancorX launch, we are expanding Bancor to also support the EOS blockchain.”  Read more...
