Speculation on ‘Crypto Twitter’ started going wild after a Department of Justice announcement early on Wednesday regarding a following press release. With very vague and non-descriptive language, the DoJ made an announcement that a press release detailing “International Crypto Enforcement Action” was to follow in the hours following the release.
What followed can only be described as another hilarious moment in the rarely dry atmosphere of crypto.
Enforcement Action… Or Something Like It
The Bitcoin Whitepaper, the document that presented the first cryptocurrency to the world, is turning 14 years old today. Investors, community members, developers, and others celebrate this event across social media platforms.
The project that began as an experiment, as an alternative to the fiat monetary system, is still in its teenage years. However, its economic, social, political, and cultural impact is massive. The document’s introduction says:
(…) an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reportedly rejected the first-ever cryptocurrency ETF proposal from Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss — the famous entrepreneurs behind cryptocurrency exchange Gemini.
The Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust was already denied by the SEC in 2017. However, CNBC now reports that the twins’ recently submitted rule change proposal has also been rejected by the independent agency of the United States federal government — marking yet another loss in the Winklevoss’ quest for an ETF.
