On Tuesday, the Iranian energy grid corporation Tavanir warned illegal bitcoin mining operations that they would be cut off from their supply. Following the announcement, pictures of a mining facility set up in a mosque went viral on social media.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has questions in its ongoing investigation into the mysterious $ 190 million collapse of Canadian crypto exchange QuadrigaCX, so it’s turning to previous customers of the exchange for answers.
Yesterday, the agency posted a questionnaire on its website requesting responses from QuadrigaCX victims. In cooperation with various departments of the U.S. government, the FBI opened a probe into QuadrigaCX in March amidst swirling legal troubles.
“… responses are voluntary but would be useful in the federal investigation and to identify you as a potential victim,” the questionnaire reads. “Based on the responses provided, you may be contacted by the FBI and asked to provide additional information.”

Singapore-based BK Global Consortium has paid 400 billion won (approximately $ 350 million) for a majority stake in South Korean Bithumb, the world’s third-largest cryptocurrency exchange, according to a local news outlet.
BK Global Consortium is a blockchain investment firm under BK Global, a Singapore plastic surgery medical group owned by Kim Byung-Gun. The Consortium had held a minority position in Bithumb for a while and was the exchange’s fifth largest shareholder until today’s announcement.

Telegram, the ICO led social messaging app is current banned in Russia, although according to reports, this ban could soon be overturned if the company agree to share their encryption keys with law enforcement authorities in Russia. This comes as the Federal Security Service (FSB) have decided that they need to access encrypted messages in order to combat terrorism, though we can question if Telegram really is the arena of choice for terrorist communications.

Bits of Gold – local Israeli cryptocurrency exchange – has agreed to pass on information to the country’s Tax Authorities on deposits and trading activity.
In what seems to be a step towards tightening up the cryptocurrency trading environment in Israel, the local Tax Authorities have reached an agreement with a local digital exchange Bits of Gold. As reported by local tech-related media outlet Calcalist, the cryptocurrency exchange has agreed to pass on information concerning larger deposits.
Supposedly, the purpose behind the agreement is to prevent acts of tax evasion and money laundering. Apparently, the anonymized and encrypted nature of cryptocurrencies intimidates the regulatory bodies of the country.
Hong Kong-based GSR Capital is investing $ 160 million in Overstock’s cryptocurrency venture, the exchange tZERO. The news immediately hiked Overstock’s share price by 12.5 .percent.
Through its tZERO exchange, a majority-owned subsidiary, Overstock plans to bring “efficiency and transparency” to capital markets. tZERO’s recent joint venture agreement with BOX digital markets will create what Overstock hopes is the first regulated security token exchange.
tZERO is currently running a Security Token Offering (STO) to fund the project. GSR Capital’s planned investment, in the form of a letter of intent, to purchase $ 160 million worth of tZERO tokens, has led to tZERO extending the private funding round of its STO to August 6th, 2018. tZERO tokens are currently available in the private sale at $ 10.00 per token.
