Crypto-Skeptic Professor to Speak at US Senate
Renowned economics professor Nouriel Roubini (commonly known as Dr. Doom) is set to tell American politicians about all the ills he sees in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The Senate Banking Committee lists him as a witness at a hearing on “Exploring the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Ecosystem” to be held Thursday, October 11.
On September 11, Sweden will host Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference Stockholm organized by Smile-Expo – international coordinator of business events.
The conference will introduce various topics regarding blockchain and will drive attention to the most topical problems of the cryptocurrency market today.
One of the invited experts is the Member of Swedish Parliament Mathias Sundin who is involved in the Tax Committee and the Finance Committee. The Japanese Police have been cracking down on users of remote mining software apps, such as Coinhive, without their website visitors’ consent. After being investigated and having their property impounded, users are speaking up about the unfairness of the investigation.
Problems with the Investigations and Arrests
The Japanese police have been actively investigating website owners using programs such as Coinhive to mine cryptocurrencies without their site visitors’ consent. Recently, the police from 10 prefectures reportedly caught 16 people using such programs; three were arrested while the others had their information sent to the prosecutors.
Self-professed ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ Craig Wright likely had a platform at Deconomy 2018 due to Bitcoin Cash sponsoring the event.
Bitmain Listed As Deconomy ‘Supporter’
After the now-infamous confrontation between Wright and Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin at the event, during which Buterin asked “Why is this fraud allowed to speak at this conference,” the controversy surrounding Bitcoin Cash proponents’ claims has returned to the cryptocurrency industry.
The answer to his possibly rhetorical question may yet lie in the fact that Deconomy lists pro-Bitcoin Cash mining hardware manufacturer Bitmain as one of its “supporters.”
