Bitrefill Adds Thor Turbo to Speed Lightning Connections
The crypto payment platform Bitrefill has announced an upgrade to its Thor service.
The upgrade is dubbed “Thor Turbo,” and its expected to speed up the process of connecting to Bitrefill's Lightning node, according to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine.
Bitrefill launched the Thor service in January 2019 as an on-demand Lightning channel service that allows users to receive payments whether they have bitcoin loaded into their Lightning wallets or not.
Speaking with Bitcoin Magazine via email, Bitrefill COO John Carvalho said that, since Thor launched, the startup has opened hundreds of Lightning channels with customers and hopes to soon reach the thousands.

As the new Lightning network (LN) protocol continues to take the Crypto-Twitterverse by storm, it’s taking at least one new app with it, as the tipping and micropayment app Tippin.me catches on like wildfire. Struck by the potential success of the new Lightning network protocol, Abril created Tippin.me three months ago as a way to enable Lightning micropayments without a user having to set up an LN node.

Bitcoin side projects could speed up Bitcoin ETF, according to Samson Mow, the CSO of Blockstream.
In a recent interview, Samson spoke about the general state of Bitcoin, while also providing price predictions and his thoughts on a potential timeline for Bitcoin ETF approval.
Samson took the viewpoint that investors tend to look at Bitcoin from the perspective of the consumer – essentially, as an asset to buy or sell. However, he believes that Bitcoin should be viewed as more of a “communication protocol” in the vein of TCP/IP which is currently used by the internet, adding that there were a lot of possibilities for Bitcoin when viewed in this manner.

How Zebpay Managed to Lower Bitcoin Transaction Fees and Speed Up Confirmation Times
Zebpay, the leading bitcoin exchange in India, has had a rough time keeping up with customer transfers, with many complaining that their transactions are taking too long to confirm as well as attracting high fees. But the company has announced some good news, saying that it has implemented some solution-based measures to keep its users happy.
The Problem
Zebpay was previously charging 100 bits for transactions, but to offer a long-lasting solution and guarantee faster confirmations it has increased the fees to 200 bits. Due to congestion of the mempool, the company has continually been forced to pay additional fees from its own pockets, even when it charges its clients fees as high as 500 bits, to ensure that confirmation of transactions is faster and more reliable.
