The CEO of Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) forthcoming cryptocurrency trading platform Bakkt has said she wants to deliver a “revolution” in the sector in a similar way to energy trading fifteen years ago.
Speaking to Fortune following news Bakkt had hired former Coinbase vice president Adam White as COO, Kelly Loeffler forecast a repeat performance of ICE’s market-making moves last decade.
Bakkt, set for launch next month, has generated considerable interest since its announcement in late July.

Bitcoinist spoke with co-founder of ICO Alert, Mike Finch, who shared his insight into the recent ban on Initial Coin Offering (ICO) advertising on Facebook, Twitter and Google social media platforms, how ICOs have been responding, and how it levels the playing field for quality ICOs to receive market attention.
Bitcoinist: How have ICOs been responding to the ban on popular social media platforms?
Mike Finch: There are two ways to look at this, for both ICOs and ICO marketing/consulting agencies. On one hand, it is bad because it decreases the sheer # of avenues for ICOs to advertise and you could argue it hurts the industry.
There’s a lot of information to process, but ignoring it can be hazardous. The IRS is going to come after investors who are not reporting their gains.

The UK’s central bank, the Bank of England (BoE), has confirmed it is “not planning” to adopt a state-sponsored cryptocurrency.
In new updates to its official position on the cryptocurrency phenomenon last week, the BoE instead announced it was favoring research into the concept in order to understand its “implications.” An increasingly active presence in Blockchain, the BoE has already produced a fintech accelerator scheme which will additionally inform its ongoing research in the field.
Investments in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) broke all records last year, boasting assets under management of $ 3.4 trillion USD. In this regard, a Bitcoin-based ETF managed by ARK Investment Management LLC became the best-performing ETF of 2017, delivering gains of over 87 percent. In parallel, more investment institutions are rushing petitions to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch Bitcoin-based ETFs.
