After our article considering the Masters Degree in Digital Currency – a course offered by the University of Nicosia in Cyprus – a Spanish university is following in its footsteps by offering a Bitcoin course. The University of Alicante, located in the region of San Vicente del Raspeig, is made possible thanks to the help from European Bitcoin company Coinzone.
Bitcoin, la Moneda Virtual
This Bitcoin course offered by the University of Alicante is an online course, which anyone and everyone can follow at their leisure. Do keep in mind there is a limited window during which you can partake in this course, which began on April 14th and runs until April 30th of 2015. Bitcoin, la Moneda Virtual translates to “Bitcoin, the virtual currency”.
This course is an introduction to Bitcoin and the concept of digital currency. Leading experts in the area will be giving various lectures on different topics. In total, there will be five different “classes” to attend, ranging from what Bitcoin are, to the business opportunities presented by digital currency and a real-life business example.
And that real-life business example comes in the form of One Shot Hotels, a Spanish hotel chain that accepts payments through traditional payment methods [cash, credit cards, et cetera] but also in Bitcoin. In fact, One Shot Hotels started adding several Bitcoin ATM’s to their locations as of October 2014.
It is important to note that, while this course is relatively short and will grant you an official accreditation once you successfully complete it, you are not a Bitcoin expert by any stretch of the imagination. However, you will have learned a bit more about Bitcoin and digital currency, which forms a good foundation to get involved further and go deeper into specific areas that may pique your interest.
Many Expert Teachers
Putting together a course on Bitcoin is not an easy feat. You need to start at the very beginning, and try to avoid the technical aspect of digital currency in the first few minutes of your lecture. In order to accommodate for a course that anyone can follow – regardless of their level of tech-savviness – the University of Alicante has invited several experts in the field of Bitcoin to host lectures.
This course is made possible, in part, due to a partnership with Coinzone; a European company allowing both individuals and retailers to accept Bitcoin payments without hassle. The company has enlisted several of their ”top brass” to educate students about Bitcoin. To be more precise, Coinzone’s CEO, Marketing Director, and Technology Director are just a few of the “teachers” who will enlighten you on Bitcoin.
Do keep in mind this entire course will be presented in Spanish, so do not expect any English lectures.
