People around the world want to use Bitcoin for all kinds of purposes, whether it is doing good by donating to charity, paying their bills or even booking a hotel. One of the beautiful aspects of Bitcoin, is it offers nearly unlimited possibilities, once we can get merchants and retailers to accept it as a payment method. The Dorchester Collection, a world-renowned hotel chain, has launched their new store which now accepts Bitcoin payments.
Dorchester Collection Launches New Webstore
There are very few names in the hotel industry that are synonymous with excellence and quality. Dorchester Collection is one of those names, and they have recently launched a new webstore where you can buy luxury gifts, gift cards, clothing and even a special experience such as a spa, afternoon tea or a lunch, for any of their ten hotels around the world.
On top of that, you can mix-and-match goods, items and services from any of the Dorchester Collection hotels in your online shopping basket, which creates a more streamlined checkout process for their customers. In doing so, the Dorchester Collection has created the first luxury hospitality industry’s digital shopping platform.
When making a purchase, in the form of a gift card, it will be delivered to the recipient in a special presentation box or, if you prefer, in a digital format which can be emailed to the recipient when time is of the essence. Why not treat your loved ones to a relaxing afternoon tea, or a romantic candlelight dinner at Hotel Eden’s rooftop restaurant?
But that is not all, as the new Dorchester Collection webstore also lets you purchase gift cards with a monetary value attached to them. These eGift cards can be purchased for any amount, ranging from 50 GBP to 5,000 GBP, and they are also made available to customers paying in USD or EUR. After all, the Dorchester Collection’s hotels are spread out over Europe, the UK and the US.
It is important to note that the monetary eGift cards are valid for any of the ten Dorchester Collection hotels, and can be used towards paying for any luxury product(s) and services offered by the hotel you are staying at. Options include a spa treatment at Le Meurice in Paris, or an overnight stay in the Presidential Suite at Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan.
Bitcoin Is A Supported Payment Method
In a rather unexpected turn of events, Dorchester Collection also announced its new webstore will be accepting Bitcoin as one of the supported payment methods. The choice to accept Bitcoin payments was made after evaluating the market changes in regards to online shopping, as well as the mainstream media attention digital currency has been getting as of late.
“The user-friendly shopping journey and the ability to select multiple hotels’ items will allow visitors of the online shop to discover those signature gifts and experiences that Dorchester Collection is renowned for.” Helen Smith, Dorchester Collection’s VP for Sales & Marketing told the media recently.
Bitcoin payments have become more and more common ever since major retailers such as Overstock.com, Dell, Microsoft and Expedia started accepting the digital currency in the past year and a half. So far, all of these companies have enjoyed an expanding customer base by accepting Bitcoin payments, and it looks like Dorchester Collection is hoping to achieve the same.
