XCurrency is developing distributed “web 3.0” architecture to serve content to both the traditional and distributed web, starting with in-wallet ads for QiBuck.
What if web content could be served in a distributed fashion and thus made both cheaper and invulnerable to hacking, censorship, and hardware failure?XCurrency is poised to deliver just this.
Increasingly, cryptocurrency experts are coming to realise the potential of the blockchain to revolutionise the architecture of the internet. In its current state, it is insecure, vulnerable to hacking, and its core components are owned by states and global corporations whose interests do not necessarily align with those of users. What if, instead, the privacy of private information could be ensured by mathematics, while publicly viewable content was stored and served by nodes distributed around the globe, with no central point of failure or attack?
This is the end to which XC is headed, as its Xnodes will soon serve web content. Customers will submit everything from advertising and static webpage elements to personal files via XC’s website or an API. The content will be indexed in XC’s blockchain, encrypted, stored and served by innumerable Xnodes, and paid for via a decentralised exchange.
While being cheaper, more robust, and more secure for users than traditional content delivery solutions, XC’s system also allows anyone to run an Xnode and be remunerated for serving content. Thus, revenues are equitably distributed, and in such a way as to incentivise anyone owning a computer to grow XC’s network and make it more secure.
The roots of this development are in XC’s growing reputation as a technology leader. After completing code reviews for both KeyCoin and Aerocoin, XC founder and lead developer Dan Metcalf was approached by QiBuck to develop an in-app content-delivery system for the QiBuck wallet. Since “blockchain 2.0” and web 3.0 technologies have been on XC’s roadmap since its inception, the proposal presents a well-timed and strategic opportunity for XC.
QiBuck is a currency backed by diversified investments and pioneers the concept of “proof-of-baghold”, a method of rewarding holders of Qibucks. In order to further reward holders, a system was envisaged to remunerate users who view advertising served directly to the Qibuck wallet. XC will deliver this solution. In Metcalf’s words, “XC is designing a content delivery network over Xnodes which get paid; Qibuck will be a client with integrated API access to pull content.” This will provide revenue opportunities for running both Xnodes and QiBuck wallets.
Furthermore the implications of this technology are vast. XC is poised to deliver a general purpose content-delivery system that will support any kind of content and will serve traditional websites as well as next-generation distributed platforms such as QiBuck wallets.
XC’s web 3.0 system will be developed after the finishing touches to Rev 2, its industry-leading privacy technology, are completed.
