Crypto Exchange Zipmex Meets Thai Regulators To Discuss Next Steps Of Recovery

Crypto exchange Zipmex has planned to meet with the Thailand Securities Exchange Commission along with other regulators to discuss the recovery plan. Zipmex had recently submitted a letter which will request to schedule meetings with the security regulators.

This meeting shall also include the crypto firm’s potential investors. The exchange had suspended the withdrawals in the month of July due to a financial crisis. A meeting that involves Thailand’s SEC and investors of Zipmex is important before a funding deal is finalized.

Binance’s CZ Visits The Central African Republic, Meets President Touadéra

President Faustin-Archange Touadéra received Changpeng Zhao to discuss bitcoin and crypto. The meeting of the minds happened on Friday and there’s not much public information about what actually happened. The Binance CEO has been meeting African presidents recently, so it only makes sense that he visited the first nation to make bitcoin legal tender in the continent.

Tapsigner Bitcoin Hardware Wallet: Security Meets Convenience?

Coinkite’s new credit card-like bitcoin hardware wallet aims to unite affordability with convenience to scale cold storage to a broader market worldwide.

Bitcoin company Coinkite has launched its newest hardware wallet, Tapsigner, in an attempt to facilitate cold-storage bitcoin self-custody.

The product, which resembles a credit card more than traditional hardware wallets, comes at $ 40 and aims to serve as a more intuitive Bitcoin-signing device to onboard a wider range of people around the world onto more secure bitcoin self-custody setups.

Alex Winter’s new film, “Trust Machine: The Story of Blockchain,” is set for release in late October. The technology documentary is yet another movie chronicling the rise and influence of cryptocurrency and blockchain.

Alex Winter became well-known in the world of film after starring in two of the cult-classic “Bill & Ted” movies. In recent years, the British-American film director and actor has crafted a number of technological themed documentaries, including one about the infamous Napster file-sharing service.

In 2015, Bitcoinist covered the discussion surrounding Winter’s film “Deep Web.” The movie discussed about the case surrounding the Silk Road marketplace, opening up questions about digital criminality and the law.  Read more...

New SEC Commissioner Meets Crypto Companies Regarding ETF

The recently appointed Commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commision, Elad Roisman met and discussed a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund or ETF with the relevant cryptocurrency companies.

In a document, it was announced by the SEC that Commissioner Roisman and his counsels met with the representative of blockchain startup SolidX and money manager VanEck, to discuss their application for a SolidX VanEck Bitcoin trust, a Bitcoin ETF.  the team also included representatives from the listing exchange CBOE.

Dimitri Nemirovsky and Dan Gallancy from SolidX, Kyle Murray and Laura Morrison from Cboe and Adam Phillips from VanEck were the representatives.  Read more...

Town In Canada Meets Hackers Demands With Bitcoin Ransom

In the Ontario province of Canada, holds the town of Midland which has a population of more than 16,000 people and has recently had its computer systems hacked and infected with ransom malware.

The town of Midland has come to conclusion that they are going to meet the hackers wants and pay them (as per their demands) in Bitcoin, in order to get the computer system up and running again.

The attack on the towns computer systems left the town with ineffective computers for around 48 hours which ruined the processing of payments, issuance of permits, email services, marriage applications and reloading of transit cards.  Read more...

Blockchain Meets Movie Industry as White Rabbit Teams Up with Production Company K5

Blockchain start-up White Rabbit, developers of a browser plugin that allows users to legally stream movies and television series from any open streaming service, has announced a strategic partnership with K5 International, a subdivision of K5 Media Group, a renowned media production company that has produced Oscar-nominated films.

Financial details of the partnership, which was announced in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, where not disclosed, however, the deal conditions suggest that K5 will grant White Rabbit users access to its library of 50-plus movies while the company’s co-founder Daniel Baur will join White Rabbit’s advisory board.
